About Indore
Life in Indore
Planned and built by Rani Ahilyabai, the brave Holkar queen, Indore lies to the west of Madhya Pradesh on the banks of the rivers Saraswati and Khan which unite at the centre of the city. The bustling and vibrant city, 186 km from Bhopal, derives its name from the 18th century Indreshwar temple. The fastest growing business hub of Central India with the rich malwa culture in its backdrop makes for a memorable experience.
Climate:
Due to its location in Central India (approx.76°E, 23°N) , far from the sea, Indore has a moderately extreme climate. In winters (November to February), the night low is around 10°C.At the peak of winter, it can be as low as low as 2 to 3°C. The record low is +1.5°C. During summers (April-June), the days are hot (35-40°C) with the peak summer (May) day temperature sometimes touching 45°C. However, unlike other places in central India, the summer nights in Indore are something special. Due to its location on the southern edge of the Malwa Plateau, however hot it may be during the day, in the late evening, cool breeze starts which makes the evenings quite pleasant. Indore gets moderate rainfall of 30-35 inches (~80cms) during July-September due to S. W. Monsoon.-

The best part about this city is that here one can find the ebullient energy & lifestyle of a big city and the convenience & ease of a small town. In other words, the city is big enough to be engaging, yet small enough to be friendly. Over the years the city has taken a leap in terms of infrastructure development. The busiest of the streets like A.B. Road and M.G. Road now have many Malls and Townships towering over them. The most favourite of the city’s mall is the Treasure Island, fondly abbreviated as TI, which is a one stop shop for everything you will ever need. It houses the multiplex- PVR, the biggest of the retail marts like Big Bazaar & Dollar Store, the best of the lifestyle brands like Pantaloons, Reebok, Nike, Adidas, Benetton & Levis and the greatest joints like McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Geoffrey’s, Ruby Tuesday, Little Italy and what not . You name it and you have it in TI. And that’s not all. Indore also has a number of other malls and shopping centres like Mangal City, C21 and Apollo Square which gives people a lot more options for fun and recreation.Being the business hub of Central India, the city has many hotels to accommodate its guests. The list includes Hotel Sayaji, Fortune Landmark, Lemon Tree, Sarovar Portico, Radisson and many more. And then there are the home-grown eateries, which are etched in people’s minds since generations like the Johnny Hot-dogs- the world famous banjo, Sarafa Bazaar- the mid night food bazaar & Chappan dukaanthe evening hang out.
