The games that find place in the Management Games Lounge:

Monopoly

Monopoly involves a portion of luck, with the roll of the dice determining whether a player gets to own key properties or lands on squares with high rents. There are, however, many strategic decisions that allow skilled players to win more often than the unskilled.

Chess

The most popular strategy game of all time, we all have played Chess sometime in our lives. It is only here that the student realizes that Checkmate and Gambits are used in Management Strategy also.

Pictionary

Teamwork and Creativity & innovation are not only subjects in the curriculum but also an important part of this game.

Go Game

A close cousin of Checkers, this game originated in China. The game is played by two players who alternately place black and white stones on the vacant intersections of a grid of 19×19 lines. Perhaps this is how the Chinese excelled in management strategy.

Acquire

The object of the game is to earn the most money by developing and merging hotel chains. At the end of the game, all players liquidate their stock in order to determine which player has the most money. Mergers & Acquisitions, Stock & Liquidation and this is just the beginning.

The Settlers of Catan

A German Board game, the players in the game represent settlers establishing colonies on the island of Catan. Players build settlements, cities, and roads to connect them as they settle the island. The crux of the game is maximization of resources. After all, it is an important economics theory.

Ticket to Europe

Another German Style Board Game, it has won many awards and accolades and is an international best seller. At the beginning of the game, players choose a number of 'destination' cards showing a pair of cities on the map. These become goals, representing two end-points, which players are secretly attempting to connect.

Power Grid

Factory Manager: Each player owns a factory and tries to earn the most money during the game. To be successful, each player must use his workers to buy the best machines and robots at the market and to run the machines most effectively in his factory. Because of increasing energy prices, the players must be careful to check the energy consumption of their factories and to avoid using only energy-consuming machines. Otherwise, their profit will suddenly vanish, the worst fear of a good businessman.

Checkers

Also known by the name of Draughts in UK and USA, but more popular by the same name in India, Checkers is played on an eight by eight squared board with twelve pieces on each side. These pieces may only initially move and capture diagonally forwards. Only when apiece is "crowned" or "kinged" may it move both backwards or forwards. Think. Act. Lead!

Risk

Played on a board depicting a political map of the Earth, divided into forty-two territories, which are grouped into six continents. Players attempt to capture territories from other players. The game is won when one player has managed to occupy every territory. Ever heard of a Hostile Takeover?

Kingsburg

To forge a Realm: In the land of Kingsburg, you are charged with overseeing a border in the newly acquired territories of King Tritus. To succeed, you will need to enlist the aid of the King's trusted advisors. The To Forge a Realm expansion brings in a group of new governors, each with their own outlying province to command, strengthen, and defend, as well as a host of advisors to influence.
