Guest lecture by Mr. Sunil Chaturvedi, Director, Pharma Network School of Pharmacy

The institute organized a special talk for the students of SAIM&S by an eminent guest Mr. Sunil Chaturvedi, Director, Pharma Network School of Pharmacy. He strongly emphasized on the importance of professional networking. He prepared the students to face the challenges and opportunities that will come in their way after entering the Corporate World. He very rightly pointed out that it’s difficult to predict situations and of professional life. According to him, “The best way to deal with contingencies would be to select a career which you like and which also suits your personality traits and abilities. Or, grab the opportunity that life offers you and work hard to become the best in that career.”

Mr. Chaturvedi guided the students about the various criteria that they must evaluate while making a decision for their 1st job. Students have apple of career options available for them, its important that they understand which has to be prioritized for a better professional future.

Students and faculties of SAIM&S were present in the talk and they appreciated the gesture of Mr. Chaturvedi. Advisor, Dr. I.C. Gupta and Director, Mr. Lawrence Rebello, also graced the occasion with their presence. Ms. Pallavi Gupta, TPO, SAIM&S, hosted the talk.

Guest lecture by Mr. S.K. Das, Assistant General Manager (Training), Tata International, Dewas

Mr. S.K. Das, Assistant General Manager (Training), Tata International Dewas, gave a guest lecture to the students of SAIM&S on “Turning Points”. Mr. Das guided the students about the use of Management Techniques to deal with various changes and ups and downs of personal and professional life.

While driving on a mountainous terrain we pay special attention to the speed and balance on sharp turns, similarly we need to apply proper management concepts to deal with various diversities of personal and professional life. He prepared the students to face various unwanted changes that they will have to adopt to become successful in their careers. He threw light on the importance of personality aspects in professional life. Good manners, etiquettes, and social skills can make you shine in front of others. A person needs proper knowledge, skills and attitude to become competent on his career front. He shared his personal experiences in training, which helped the students to prepare themselves for their future in corporate world. His talk helped the students in understanding their deficiencies and taking corrective actions to remove them.

All the students and faculties gained useful insights for Mr. Das’ lecture. Director, Mr. Lawrence Rebello, Vice President, Mr. Kinshuk Trivedi, and HR Head, Mrs. Chani Trivedi were also present during the lecture.

Management Tips by Ms. Tracy, China

“Chinese culture is as old and versatile as Indian Culture and in 21st century both the countries would be supreme in the world economy.” Ms. Tracy from China used various quotes, statistics and pictorial representations to share her views with the students of SAIM&S. Students and faculties of the staff were present in her lecture. Ms. Tracy also elaborated the importance of Chinese New Year in detail.

Advisor, Dr. I.C. Gupta, an eminent Management Guru also shared his experiences of International Education. He has used his professional networks to introduce the concept teaching Mandarin Languages at Indore. He informed the students that soon SAIMS&S would be Ms. Tracy’s lecture was also a part of the same. Group Director, Dr. Sudhakar Bharti and Director, Mr. Lawrence Rebello were also present during the talk.

AIESEC @ Campus

SAIM&S has signed MOU with AIESEC. This project aims at providing an international exposure to the students and creating an everlasting impact on the minds of individuals about various aspects of their culture. AIESEC is the world's largest youth-run organization. Focused on providing a platform for youth leadership development, AIESEC offers young people the opportunity to be global citizens, to change the world, and to get experience and skills that matter today AIESEC is the world's largest youth-run organization. Focused on providing a platform for youth leadership development, AIESEC offers young people the opportunity to be global citizens, to change the world, and to get experience and skills that matter today. Various events organized through AIESEC are:

Result of 1st Sem MBA delared. Fatima Ginwala top scorer with 82.5% marks

• The students of 2009-2011 batch of SAIM&S performed very well in their 1st semester DAVV examination.
• Total of 46 students appeared for the test out of which 34 students cleared all the subjects making the overall pass percentage of college as 74.
• 24 students of the SAIM&S batch scored above 60% in their examination, and passed with flying colors.

SAIM&S signs MoU with NIIT@Campus. Will deliver courses to make students ‘Industry Ready’

SAIM&S has signed Memorandum of Understanding with NIIT@Campus to deliver courses which will make students ‘Industry Ready’.

NIIT Institutional alliance is an initiative will help SAIM&S to map its students with latest technical competence to the emerging knowledge economy and help pool of youngsters to educate and have an edge in the fiercely competitive employment market in India.

Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) of India to establish their Nodal Centre at SAIM&S.

SAIM&S will be Established as a Nodal Centre for the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) of India, Ahmedabad for their:

Open Learning Diploma in Business Entrepreneurship

The program inputs are both functional and developmental. The study material covers areas like: Business Opportunity Identification and Guidance, Market Assessment, Project Report Preparation, Small Business Management, and sources of assistance to facilitate the learner in implementing the business.

Management Development Programme (MDP) organized for the students and faculties of SAIM&S by Mr. Saikat Sen of Sri Aurobindo Institute of Integral Management.

An MDP session on “Management by Consciousness”, was conducted by Mr. Saikat Sen of Sri Aurobindo Institute of Integral Management, Punducherry, for the faculties, staff and the students of MBA batch on 13th April 2010. The main objective of the MDP was to consciously activate the hidden potentialities of consciousness and manifest them in every activity of the corporate life. The topics were based on some pressing needs of the contemporary corporate world. But the approach was very different from the traditional MDPs, relying mainly on the inner powers of consciousness to bring outer results.

The participants were taught about the basic concepts of integral management and how to implement those concepts in their day to day working life to deal with situations of stress and stain. The methodology was a judicious blend of theory and practice and the sessions were based on audio-visual presentations, live demonstration, questionnaire based interaction, case/video-case discussion and analysis, games and activities.

On the occasion of Sri Aurobindo Institute’s first three day Techno-Management fest “COGNOISE 2011”, the eminent management guru Mr. N. Raghuraman was invited to give guidance to the students. In his talk he explained the present scenario of business trade and its future prospects and said that today in every business quality improvement is stressed. He also explained about the psychometric testes and informed that good career opportunities lies in every field but it depends on the students interest, personality and skills to choose the respective field. Psychometric plays a pivotal role in taking such decision. He said that this step taken by the Aurobindo group is a ladder towards better career for the students. He further informed that 70 new kinds of employment sectors are coming up. It is a good sign for the future of the students. He expressed his views by giving many interesting examples. He also explained the mode of communication in a very interesting manner. With examples he tried to explain that your way of communication and dialogue affects your career and business.

Be it leisure, work or play we want our students to imbibe managerial skills in every way possible. And moreover management is always more about practice than theory. Keeping that in mind, SAIM&S has established a unique MANAGEMENT GAMES LOUNGE for its students. The Lounge was inaugurated by Mr. N. Raghuraman. Several management games like “Ticket to Europe”, “Go Game”, “Power Grid”, “Acquire” etc, from across the world are stocked here and helps our students learn management from various perspectives be it Strategy or Marketing, Finance or Operations.

Management education has become highly westernized in the terms of language & culture. However in SAIM&S, Indian heritage culture & ethos are highly emphasized. This is exhibited in innovative induction programme organized by Institute “PRARAMBH 2011” for the new batch 2011-13.

The occasion was graced by Mr. Prateek Patel, M.D. of JASH ENGINEERING, Dr. Vinod Bhandari, Chairman SAIMS Group, Mr. Kinshuk Trivedi, Vice President, SAIMS Group, Mrs. Chani Trivedi, Head-HR, SAIMS Group, Prof. I.C. Gupta, Dean, SAIM&S, Mr. Lawrence Rebello, Director, SAIM&S as guests.

Our chief guest Mr. Patel was welcomed by Prof. I.C. Gupta. Program was initiated by Saraswati Pooja & Guru Vandana.

Director SAIM&S explained that management is not something which should be studied but it should be learned. Prof. Gupta explained the need for all round development of the students apart from their academics. Mr. Patel told the students about the requirement of industries. He emphasized on communication skills and knowledge. He said that for being a good manager, you should also be a good performer. Then program was followed by a very ancient method of tying knot by the teachers to the new students.

After that, new students express their views, and then event was winded up with vote of thanks by the students of second year followed by lunch.
